Baby Signing Time Online Review for Certification

We have created this Online Review for all Baby Signing Time Instructor candidates as an alternative method to the signingonline.com courses/or College ASL courses. This will enable Baby Signing Time Instructors to get started and move through the certification process, while ensuring they have a basic knowledge of ASL and our products before they begin teaching.

We still suggest that all candidates consider taking an approved ASL course within the first year of becoming a Baby Signing Time Instructor and ask that you send us a copy of your certificate of completion when you have finished your course. This is a suggestion and not a requirement.   As a reminder, you will still need the required ASL courses if you decide to upgrade to Advanced or Master Level.

About the online review:

The reviews contains 41 multiple choice or T/F questions, and 100 ASL sign identifications. All four segments must be completed with a minimum grade of 85% in order to receive certification.

All questions are based on information found on the SigningTime.com website, Baby Signing Time DVDs, the Academy Instructor Manual, and basic information about American Sign Language. All review questions cover the most fundamental information that every single Instructor ought to know.

All questions are either True/False, Yes/No, or Multiple Choice.

There aren’t any trick questions, but you will need to read each question carefully to fully understand what is being asked.

All ASL sign identifications are multiple choice. You will see a picture of Rachel executing a sign, and you will be provided three choices. Select the option that matches the concept she is signing. A few of the signs do not have arrows, so look at the answer choices and eliminate those that could not possibly be correct and you will have the right answer. Consider also, that all of these images are from the Baby Signing Time series.

The online review is not timed, so relax and focus on the questions. This is a closed-book online review. If you search for the answers to the questions (in any location other than your own head) during the review session, this is cheating. We are trusting that each of you are going to be doing the review on the Honor System and rely solely on your own knowledge and experience. The Director will score your reviews and get back to you with your final grade. We require a minimum score of 85%, but we will allow you to take the test again to work towards the 100% if you choose to do so.
